Corliss Steam Engine, New Orleans Exhibition 1885

This is a vintage technical engraving titled "Corliss Engine - New Orleans Exhibition." It is in excellent condition and shows a detailed view of a Corliss steam engine that was on display at the New Orleans Industrial and Cotton Exposition of 1885. There is also a diagram showing the structural details of the Music Hall used at the exposition. This print was published in a British engineering journal and is dated March 27, 1885. The print is accompanied by an article describing the exhibition in detail, recounting the tribulations of the South at the time of the Civil War and commenting on the changes in the South, economic and social, after the Reconstruction period
The engraving measures approx. 9.50 by 5.50 inches.
The overall size of the entire sheet offered here is approx. 13 by 10 inches. This is an original period item.
