sold "The Falls of Cattskill, New York." 1850 by J. & F. Tallis of London, Edinburgh, and Dublin from engraved plates first produced in 1834. It is in excellent condition and shows a detailed view of a waterfalls in the wilderness of upstate New York. The print has several inset engravings and a fine decorated border, making this print a highly presentable item. The inset on the left shows Action at Cowpens 1773, and on the right Morgan Crossing the Catawba 1771. At the top is an American black bear.The print has been cleaned and is free of age toning and foxing spots. The dimensions of the print area are, minus margins, approx. 6.50 by 9 inches, and the overall size is approx. 7 by 10.50 inches. An exquisite old print! This is not a modern reproduction.
