"Mount Shasta." It is in excellent condition and shows a very fine view of this sacred mountain in Northern California close to the Oregon border. There is an encampment of indians with tepees and horses in the foreground. This engraving was published in Picturesque America, a premier illustrated travel book, in 1874. The print was engraved by E.F. Brandard from an original work by James Smillie, a renowned engraver and illustrator. The dimensions of the print area are, minus margins, approx. 9.25 by 5.75 inches, and the overall size approx. 12 by 9 inches with a generous white margin on all sides. The details in the actual print are much finer than those seen in the scanned image. This is not areproduction or reprint.
