National Horse Exhibition

Item # 28

Price  $25.00

This is a group of four antique engravings of the National Horse Exhibition at Springfield, Massachusetts published in Gleason's Pictorial in 1853. The engravings are in very good condition and show a "Bird's Eye View of the Grounds at the Great National Horse Exhibition at Springfield, Mass.", "Stallions of Seven Years.", "Fancy Matched Horses.", and "Breeding Mares." The three horse engravings identify the horses by name and owner, and the owner's hometown. The engravings are accompanied by a detailed article describing the Exhibition, the sights and sounds of thousands of horses and spectators. Quite interesting.  The first engraving of the entire grounds measures approx. 9.50 by 7 inches, and the others 9.50 by
5 inches. All appear on two complete pages each measuring approx. 15 by 11 inches. These are not a modern reproductions or a reprints. These are woodcut engravings and article, over 149 years old, and guaranteed to be as described.
