This is a genuine antique engraved portrait and facsimile signature of General Winfield Scott who was the commander of all Union forces at the start of the Civil War. It is in very good condition and was published in the 1850's. A very fine and detailed portrait engraved from an early daguerreotype by Mathew Brady. There is a very fine inset engraved view of the Battle of Niagara, and an ornate scrolled border. Very decorative! This is perhaps one of the finest antique portraits of this soldier. The dimensions of the print area are, minus margins, approx. 8.50 by 6 inches, with an overall size of 9.50 by 6.50 inches. This is not a reproduction or reprint. It is vintage steel engraving, over 150 years old, in very good condition and guaranteed to be as described.
